Let them eat (honey) cake!

For someone who does very little cooking I do love shopping in kitchen gadget shops!

Every now and then I see something I just have to have.... a complete wanties attack.. and when I saw this...

I just HAD to have it!  I mean look at that - honeycomb cake bites, mini honeycomb shapes and bees too -
look closely ...

Isn't it just gorgeous?
And joy of joys it came with a recipe for honey lemon cake - and all the ingredients were hiding in the kitchen...

So ..to work...
cream the butter and sugar...

Sift the flour so its lovely and fluffy...

Recruit 'im indoors to zest the lemon into the flour...

Mix it all together and pour into the gorgeous cake tin... cook for about 45 - 50 minutes till golden brown...

Whilst its cooking make the glaze with lemon juice, a little icing sugar and honey...

Look at that yummy golden brownness...

So the instructions say turn the cake upside down onto a cooling rack, tap and it will come out, ready...

Ta-dah! it worked!!

Then just brush with the honey lemon glaze...

If you want to know how it tastes - you'll have to join the quirky quilters tomorrow for a day of great food, good conversation and creative quilting!
